FACE PLATES
These completely custom micro face plates are made from a semi-soft resin material that is quite resistant to scuffs and scratches. They are nearly the exact same thickness as the original face plates, and are held on with sticker-like adhesive rather than plastic clips. These options are currently available:

Hi, I am a Gameboy Micro owner OXY001 (EUR) Silver. I made some googleling and bump in to this site. I can’t believe that there is actually a custom faceplate. And to think that Nintendo never did released them offline. Thanks for giving hope for my Micro.
I would also like to request a youtube video on how you install this faceplates. I kinda like to have an experience of what it’s like to have one. I really need this plates. 😀

They’re pretty simple to install. It’s essentially a sticker. Just take your time, line it up, and press it on 🙂

I have a template uploaded for anyone that wants to give it a go. I don’t have the ability to build a custom piece of code to let people tinker with it on the site though. Photoshop is obviously good for getting your ideas to me, but if that’s not an option, then the Gimp is a really nice freeware alternative.

Hello wiggy, I would like to know if there are 2 types of faceplates. Based off of the pictures provided, I can see some sort of puffy lifted type of faceplate. As for the other, it seems to be some sort of thin plastic. Is this type of faceplate as thick as the original faceplate? I fear that I might bend it at some point if I am rough with the micro. As for the type of design I am interested in, I would like to know how much would a plain black faceplate would cost. Thank you!

There is just ONE variety that I offer. I assume that you’re looking at the side-by-side images of the green and orange units? The green faceplate is original and just for comparison. The orange faceplate is what ALL of mine look like.
It’s nearly the exact same thickness as the original, just a different material and is held on with adhesive rather than plastic clips. So, keep in mind, this is meant to be a more permanent solution to the problem. These are not easily popped on and off on a whim.
It’s worth noting that they are made from a softer resin material than the original plates. While that may sound like a bad thing, they’re actually quite resistant to scuffs and scratches 🙂

Also, do you think it would look good with the black buttons? I like the lowercase letters on them and would probably not want to change them, though the one pictured does look cool! And are the words on the faceplate orange or red?

I can’t make the buttons with the letters on them. They’re made with an over-molding process originally, which would be extremely time consuming for me to replicate via casting. I can only do flat color, no decal/graphic.
It’s red. As close to the original NES colors as it gets 🙂

Hello, I just want to know if you still do these faceplates for GBM and if you can ship to France.
Also, i wanted to know if this faceplate is replacing the orginal one entirely (cause mine’s borken) or if it is just a sticker you put on the original one.
