  3. Hi there,

I’m very interested in the potential of having a backlit NGPC. I’m kind of confused by the product pages, however. Can this be done to a NGPC or only an NGP? Could I send in my NGPC to get modded or would I have to buy a kit? Are there pre-modded NGPCs with backlights? What are my options?

    Thanks

I don’t sell kits, but I most definitely offer a service. Let me know and I can send you an email with all the info.

Just wondering on some pricing for now.

    Thanks!

  26. I don’t sell the adapter separately from the kit just because there are LOTS of compatibility issues with the original LCDs. Sometimes they work with the adapter, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes that produce really poor image quality. There are a few different variations of the original SP LCD, and that’s the problem.

    hello.
i’ve been searching the net, and found your website.
i can’t find any other website that makes custom parts for consoles (i.e, custom buttons for gba), and was interested in ordering a set of buttons for gba SP (arrow buttons, A,B, start, select) in a transparent red, and was wondering if you offer this service for the SP console? i’ve been planning to replace the housing on my sp, since the old one is scratched, and was hoping for some new buttons that stand out a bit.
i live in the UK, and if you would offer this service, i was wondering if you ship to the UK.
    thank you.

  31. Hey!

I was wondering if when buying a gba light +, when a gba is sent into be modded, will it still be sent back in the packaging like the pre-modded version? Also, do you send back the same gba send to you, or just another one from your stock?

    Thank you!

  33. It comes with all the same options/features/packaging that one I would provide 🙂

I will mod YOUR system and send YOURS back to you. I will accept working units as a core as your suggesting, but only if that’s something that you request. For instance, if you wanted a different color than what you have.

    Like

  34. So, if I want a different colour, but want the innards that I know work well and have taken care of, is it possible for you to change the shell to one of a different colour?

  35. Sure, that’s no problem at all as long as your original shell is usable for another system (I.e. not terribly beat up).

    Like

  41. I understand that you’re busy, but can I please get a reply? Surely, it doesn’t take you that long to reply to an email. This is becoming a bit ridiculous as of right now. It’s been over a month since I’ve sent you my GBA Light + just so that you can clean the dust under the screen, which shouldn’t have been there in the first place. What’s even more ridiculous is how long it’s taking you to reply. No offence, but it’s becoming a bit suspect because you clearly replied to the post prior to mine and ignored mine. I just want to play the GBA. If you don’t want to clean the dust, then just send it back. Having it sit at your place for over a month isn’t doing anybody any good and quite frankly it’s irritating me considering that I spent $135 on it and haven’t even been able to enjoy it.

  42. Sorry, it’s not you personally, I’ve been neglecting ALL of my email for a while now. I’ll get back to ASAP (hopefully later today or tomorrow morning)

I recently bought a used Gameboy Micro and it has scratches all over the faceplate. I was looking online for a new faceplate and found your site. 44. PLEASE READ, AUCTION CLOSES SOON.

Hi Wiggy, I am watching an auction for a rare GBC, and it’s quite pricy. It comes from the US (I live in England), so can I ship it straight to you to front light it and clean it, because if I don’t then it will come to me, I will have to pay huge VAT, send it to you, pay postage, you send it back to me and I pay VAT again? Funny question, but because it is so rare, I’m afraid that you may want to keep it and not send it to me (I’m really sorry for thinking this, I just expect the worse and worry a lot. I’m by no means saying that you would do this). So, could I send it straight to you? If so, could you talk me through how to do it, like how to send to you, whether we have to pay this and that, and the whole process. Thank you. Please reply asap.

  47. Hi there Wiggy, thought I’d post on here seeing as you have experience with modding, you may be able to help me, you might not, it’s worth a try! I was going to post on the Ben Heck forum but you can’t register for that anymore.
My problem is that I’ve done the ags-101 mod to my original gameboy, I then fitted the over-clocking mod (with switch) for the tedious levelling on pokemon and other games. The thing is, with this new screen (and I have tried all games) the colour drastically fades and playing the game is near impossible when over-clocking is switched on. You can hardly see anything. If anyone can help or suggest where I could get help, it would be appreciated. Cheers.

  51. Two questions-

-Is there any sort of difference between the 32 and 40 pin versions of the GBA that would make one better than the other? It probably has no effect on anything but I’d like to know if there’s any difference besides requiring a slightly tweaked ribbon adapter.

-Why is it more expensive to send in my GBA for the mod+ standard paint job, than buying a pre-built unit (that includes the paint)? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the total cost of the mod plus paint to be around the price of the pre-built, minus the average cost of a single gba unit?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Wiggy will correct me if I’m wrong but there’s no difference in the output quality for either of the cables, there is just 2 slightly different motherboards that nintendo used for GBA’s over their production, one has a 32-pin socket, the other a 40-pin.

The reason it is more expensive to send your system in for us to mod is that it takes us significantly out of our normal production routine to diagnose and/or mod a sent in system. We have to take time to communicate with you, take time to gather and/or acquire materials for the job, schedule it in to a free time-slot, re-label and re-package it. It’s not so much about what is being done to your system as it is about the extra time and energy we need need to put in to make this happen for you. We don’t cut corners and never will. So this is why the prices are what they are. We aren’t getting rich, it’s a labor of love.

Wiggy will have to weigh in on this but the custom builds and send-in modification requests are currently getting overhauled and may be phased out somewhat in the near future. We want to be able to up the scale on our pre-builts so we can offer you guys a wider variety.

Glad to hear you like what Wiggy started here, we sure take pride in our work and will certainly continue to offer up quality. We have some really cool projects in the pipeline so definitely stay tuned. Hope this answers your questions. 🙂

  53. Awesome, that helps a bunch! I’m glad to hear you guys have a passion for quality and efficiency. My main problem, though, is that I already have two GBA units. I’ll be buying a kit for one, as it is near and dear to my heart (I’ve had it since I was eight) and I would rather it stay as close to its original look as possible- yellowed serial number on the back included. On the other one, however, I am deciding whether to have it modded identical to a stocked unit, or custom painted. My question is; if I do choose one that is pretty much the same as a stocked unit, could you guys just exchange the old one for the new one, thus saving you the time of having to do a custom order?

    Like

  54. You’re spot on, A. The only thing that’s different between the 32 and 40-pin setups are the GBAs themselves. The 32-pin GBAs require a little more fine tuning to the potentiometer in order to get the output to its optimal brightness/clarity.

As far as the customs go, like A-diz said, we are looking into changing the system up a bit. We’re finding that we spend a LOT of time with correspondence while trying to setup the custom orders. More than we’d like and have time for. It’s not something that we want to completely abandon since that’s really what RCG was founded on, but it’s most definitely time for some changes in order for us to keep up with the growing demand for our products and so that we can continue to create new products. Right now we’re stuck in what seems to be a permanent backlog, and the custom orders really seem to be the bottleneck that keep us from catching up.

But we’re working on something that’ll still allow us to do custom work but trim some of the fat so that we can stay on top of things 🙂

    Stay tuned…

  55. Hey guys,

I bought a GBA on 9/4 and I got a receipt and a tracking number from the postal service. The tracking number doesn’t show being picked up and the post office says they don’t have it. Can you possibly check the status of my order? I’ve sent 2 emails but received no reply.
