This one is my R&D unit. I have R&D units for all the systems that I mod, and honestly they aren’t the ones you want LOL! Lot’s of unnecessary cuts, a bit rough around the edges, etc. I’ll gladly make more though, and in any color you like. Plus they units I produce from now on have all teh issues resolved and the installs are as clean as can be 😉
The Nomad puts out component natively. I know it can be modded for S-vid, but I haven’t looked much into it since the Nomad is a portable and I never thought there was much need/desire to hook it up to a TV. But, if that’s something you really want, then I can look into it.
I assume you mean RGB (not component YPbPr, which requires a mod – it needs an amp for the RGB signal) – so it must have the same 8-din connector that the Genesis does. Well, it was just a thought; too much clutter.
This is awesome. I had talked you about moding my Nomad with the LCD screen. However, I would much prefer the chance to purchase a complete mod like this. Would you only be modifying systems people send you or selling the completely modified systems themselves ?
I can do either or. In fact, I just grabbed 2 more Nomads on eBay the other day so I can try to knock a few out at once and offer them for sale. I can sell them outright, or offer a core exchange for your system if you’d like (I.e. you send in yours, and I put a credit towards an X that I already have modded).
That is good stuff right there! I did fill out the form yesterday, however I will ask here as well. Do you also mod them to allow Japanese Mega Drive games to be played?
This is a truly beautiful mod!! Although It really is more than just a mod it’s like an entire system upgrade!! I have very recently ordered myself a Nomad, cannot wait for it to arrive!!! I really would love to get some pricing information once your ready. This is something i would absolutely love to have done to my nomad!!!
I am incredibly interested in this. If you’re doing custom casing and molds for buttons, as well as kits for all the wonderful things (better screens and battery) I’d be in heaven. Seriously.
I was actually looking into what my options were for a portable Genesis system and it seemed like the Nomad was best but I was turned off a bit by the battery life. I can’t wait for this mod to be completed! I’ll definitely look into buying one once I have the money and R&D is completed. 😀
So if I were to send you a Sega Nomad with a broken contrast wheel (which also makes the video not show up), would you mod it to a Nomad X for cheaper than buying an actual Nomad X?
(Also, what’s a ballpark price. I know you have to R&D, but do you have any idea how much a sent in console/individual system would cost?)
Hey there, this looks awesome. I have a question about region compatibility. Will I be able to play my PAL Mega Drive games on the Nomad X without extra mods?
Hi Wiggy. Question: I have wanted to get myself a Nomad but would really much rather buy your Nomad X,. Will you be selling them completely modded as pictured? I am very interested in purchasing one. Please let me know any new details on price and availability Love your work. Thanks! : )

Awesome. What are the video options for outputting to a TV? I have a Gen 1 modded for component, probably wouldn’t replace that, right?

There is no opening on the Nomad. The battery pack is normally external and clips onto the back, making it a bigger and bulkier mess
Not sure yet. Haven’t installed it. I’ll post more when I have 🙂
