any chance for a modded GBA? i do not want to mess with soldering. what would be the total price?
also what is the switch for?
2 levels of brightness like gba sp ags-101, or light on off switch like ags 001?
any chance of a video with switch?

I have a orange one in stock right now. $150.00 shipped within the US. Comes in its own custom made case, brand new glass lens (yes, glass), 2-way switch, and it’s own unique model label and serial number. I’ll make a post in a minute with pics and videos for ya.
The switch works like the 101, 2 brightness settings.

Shipping to Germany would be $17.00. The screens are aftermarket, not OEM. In all honesty, I haven’t been able to tell the difference as far as image quality goes. They’re surprisingly nice LCDs. I can sell you just the adapter if you like. However, there are 2 different versions of the AGS-101 screen and there are some potential compatibility issues, which is a big part of why I sell the adapters as part of a kit. If you could send me a image of the connector on your 101 LCD and let me know which version your GBA is (see the 32 vs 40-pin image that I have posted), then I can tell you if it’ll work or not with the adapter.

ive been looking at messed up SPs to scrap for an lcd but i think i will buy your kit instead and curb the screen compatibility issue. i respect your professional packaging and design sense. though i dont want to steal business from zerey. i just cant wait for a decently priced sp to float around just to figure out which cord i need. its not complicated but time consuming and not really fun i just want to do the mod. please get at me about paying you immediately, so that i may do the mod soon.

These are Zerey’s kits. We’ve worked together so that I am the US distributor for them. Works well for all involved. He makes his share without having to try and communicate with many English speaking customers, I obviously make some money, and you guys get the same kit with proper English instructions, retail packaging, the added 2-way switch, AND it still costs less than having a single kit sent over from China. Win win win 🙂

Do you sell just the adapter ribbon cable(40 pin) like Zerey do? I got a quote from him for $18.00 plus $18.00 shipping from China, but what I don’t like is the long wait. 😦

Yeah, that’s the biggest problem. The wait time and shipping is killer. I prefer not to, since the cables aren’t compatible with every version of the SP screen. If you can provide an image of the ribbon cable connector on the screen that you plan to use, I can tell you if it’s compatible or not.

Optimally, I’d grab a JP unit, since they weren’t available in orange here in the US. They are a tad pricey, just to warn you. Let me know what you think and we can get it sorted out.

A kit + glass lens? Yup, no prob!
In my experience, there are far more 40-pin units out there than 32. The 40 pin is the earlier board design, so look for launch colors. I don’t believe I’ve seen a single white US 32-pin console to date (they may exist, but I haven’t seen it). I also have a lot of stock on hand if you’d rather just buy one from me.

Received my kit, shipping was fast. I’m impressed with the quality of the packaging.
Anyway, I’m about to trim the plastic on the inside of the shell but I have one question: to mark where the lcd sits (or rather where it’s not sitting) how should i position the LCD? according to the manual it seems that markings should be taken by pushing the LCD in the upper left corner. But I could be wrong as there is not a lot of instruction in the manual.
Also i’m still undecided as to whether i will install the switch or not. While i like the idea of not having to commit to a light setting, i’m also not a big fan of the recommended placing for the switch as that’s where the NGC cable sits. can i just solder the switch and leave it (properly insulated) inside the GBA should i need to adjust the light setting at some point?
I would have sent an email, but i figured an answer in the comments could help others too.

Well thanks!
I’d just try and position in in the middle. There isn’t much wiggle room (as you may have noticed), so it doesn’t matter all that much, hence why it wasn’t mentioned in the manual.
I’d suggest modding it without the switch, then if you find that you really want it later on, go for it! It’s pretty hard to “un-cut” the plastic in order to remove it, but it’s pretty easy to solder a couple more wires later on and cut the shell up if you’d like 😉
